Language School Will Feel at Home in Spanish Quarter
The Instituto Cervantes, the world’s largest provider focused on teaching the Spanish language, has found a new home in Sydney close to the CBD’s so-called Spanish quarter.
The firm, which has offices in 43 countries, has secured 348 sqm of office space at Level 3, 299 Sussex Street, Sydney, in a deal negotiated by Ray White Commercial South Sydney’s John Skufris on behalf of a private owner.
The Instituto Cervantes will be relocating to the city centre from premises near Sydney University at 22-24 City Road, Chippendale.
John Skufris said: “The property was appropriately located near Sydney’s original Spanish quarter on Liverpool Street with excellent proximity to Town Hall for both staff and clientele”.
Created by Spain in 1991, the Instituto Cervantes has worked to spread the Spanish language and to foster the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries. The headquarters of the institution is in Madrid.
The Instituto Cervantes has taken out an initial lease term at 299 Sussex St of five years at a net rental of $130,000 per annum or $375 per sqm per annum.
